Dallas 13 San Francisco 20 Preseason game 3 of 4

So tonight was the 3rd preseason game, and I gotta tell ya, I’m getting a lil tired of this preseason business. Sure at first, it was fun and exciting, yay football and all that, but like a spoiled child where the extraordinary becomes ordinary becomes boring far too quickly, I’m about done with preseason. BUT! I love you, the reader, so I stumbled through the game on the obnoxiously bad local broadcast for you to bring you some points about the game.

note, due to laziness, player of the game will now be written POG

Offensive POG – Kevin Ogletree. If only for the fact that I want him to make the team, I will be plugging this kid to the end. He’s an undrafted free agent rookie out of Virginia who’s just continually solid and consistent and really needs to be the 5th receiver on this team

Defensive POG – Keith Brooking. He gets in the backfield on blitzes almost too easily. Expect about 10 sacks out of this crazy middle linebacker this season. I hope…I just drafted the Cowboys D for a fantasy team of mine to back up all my talk, so please, Keith, for me, keep getting them sacks.

To reflect the tired head I’m experiencing from preseason at this point, instead of an honorable mention we’re going to have a failure of the game, or a FOG

Offensive FOG – Miles Austin dropped too many passes for my taste. Stop that Miles, you’re better than that. Credit this to preseason lack of vigor I suppose but seriously, enough is enough, we need better. O and it goes without saying Cory Procter is a FOG, but he’s that every time he steps on the field. There, I said it, cut him NOW!

Defensive FOG – Pass coverage downfield was weak, and the 2nd and 3rd strings were weaker. As the old saying to second stringers goes, you’re one injury away from starting, or back when I played linebacker, you’re about 10 injuries away from starting.

The game tonight was the incredibly stereotypical preseason game, so it really wasn’t all that fun, thus the wildly cynical blogpost, but even though the game didn’t feel very full speed and didn’t have the gusto the first game in the new stadium did, the Cowboys still looked promising. I think the word of the year should be efficient, and it looks like that’s the direction the team is headed. So smile, raise up those tired eyes, only 1 preseason game to go, then, my friends, get ready for some football!
